With express permission from a doctor it is acceptable to mix Codeine and Adderall. However, without medical expertise and appropriate prescription it should not be considered or attempted. Combinations of drugs can have unusual side effects and be potentially hazardous.

  • What is Codeine?
Codeine is a strong painkiller and a derivative of opium from poppies. It is commonly sold or prescribed as co-codamol for pain relief and assistance with a severe cough or diarrhea.

Codeine is always taken in a powdered form. It should not be injected intravenously as this can lead to anaphylaxis, an extreme allergic reaction. It also should not be combined with alcohol as the Tylenol involved reacts with the drink and can cause severe liver damage, much like overdosing on paracetamol will.

  • What is Adderall?
Adderall is an amphetamine and a stimulant. It treats narcolepsy and ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It has severe side effects on those who have heart conditions, an overactive thyroid, anxiety problems, epilepsy and obviously should be avoided during pregnancy or if on alternative medication.

  • What happens when you mix the two?
The combination is known as a speedball. The original speedball is heroin (a depressant) and cocaine (a stimulant), and the mixed, opposing effects are intended to generate a controlled euphoria. The combination is extremely dangerous though, which has led to the rise in popularity of mixing Codeine and Adderall; a safer alternative, although not to be condoned.

Adderall will give you the stimulation, whilst codeine will moderate it. In some cases people are adding Hydrocodone (Vicodin) to the mix to shake up the sensation but this adds even more risk. The result though is, again, intended euphoria. The user will feel a heightened sense of awareness but also all awareness and stimulus will be seen as positive.

  • What should I do if there's a problem?
As with all medical problems, if you have concern you should see a medical professional; either at a hospital or at a walk-in clinic. Drug use is mostly illegal but that doesn't stop it being common practice, nor does it mean doctors don't regularly deal with side effects of such misuse.

Well, Adderall can give you the jitters- and the codeine would take the edge off. Some call it "speed balling" (as in heroin and cocaine) (speed and a downer at the same time). In my experience, when I take any form of speed, I take a downer with it, to avoid jitters and tweaking- such as Xanax or an opiate
