Although people have been able to purchase melatonin over the internet to get more of a tan, there is no natural way to reduce your melatonin other than to stay our of the sun and use 100% sunblock when you do have to.

Sometimes referred to as called pigment, melanin is a substance that gives the skin, hair and iris of the eye its normal color. Melanin provides many benefits, the most recognized of which involves natural protection from ultraviolet rays of the sun.  This is what gives your skin a tan when you spend regular time in the sun.

It is also important for perspicacity of vision, as it minimalizes the number of light beams that enter the eye. Are you sure you want to lose all these fantastic attributes?
The only guaranteed way to reduce melanin in the body is to avoid the sun completely or slap on high factor sun protection at regular intervals, say every 30 minutes or so. Some believe that excessive sleep and vitamin C can help reduce melanin levels in the skin.

If you simply must have fairer skin then it is easier to alter the appearance of the skin than to try and alter the amounts of melanin in your body. The majority of cosmetic manufacturers now produce lightening and whitening creams, packs and scrubs but a lot of them can be bunk. Most skin whitening creams utilize agents such as bleach, aloe vera, extracts from lemon to potentially lighten the skin.

There are more advanced (as well as painful and dangerous) treatments to lighten the appearance of skin, such as skin peels and bleaching. Consult a cosmetologist first before embarking on courses of treatment such as these.

You may wish to try some home cures first before embarking on more expensive treatment;
Applying a paste made out of sundried orange peels and unpasteurised milk once a day, every day, can be effective as can a paste concocted from sandalwood powder, lemon juice, tomato juice and cucumber juice.

Melanin is the building blocks of Melatonin, which is a hormone that puts your body to sleep. A gland behind your eyes produces the melatonin when it's dark. The absence of light stimulates the gland to release more melatonin, but otherwise it activates on its own on a regular basis. My theory is that by causing the glands to produce more melatonin, this will take-up more melanin from the body. Stay out of the light, sleep more. Possibly train the glands to activate more frequently by artificially shortening your day and sleeping more often. Cover the bedroom windows so it is completely dark. Don't use sleeping pills. Pills interrupt the natural rhythm of the body and cause many ill side effects.

Lemon jiuce is comparable to low potent glycolic acid. It can rejuvenate
your skin and even the pigmentation, and it may lighten your skin over a
long period of time.

However, creams containing hydroquinone or
azelaic acid acid are more effctive with reproduciable results, yet
still take several months to see the results. Kojic acid is also
effective but rarely lightens. I
