Response to hormonal changes in body is different in different ladies. Many women get one specific sign while other don't. Darker color of nipples can be due to increased levels of a hormone called progesterone. This hormone is present in high quantities few days before start of periods. So, it is possible that some ladies get darker nipples few days before start of periods.
