There are a number of different reasons for calf muscle pain. I have extremely tight calf muscles and they sometimes tighten up even more and just kill. I have also read that calf pain can be caused by a potassium deficiency. Also if you don't take enough fluids in, muscles can tighten up and this can be very noticeable in calf muscles. I gave read that (obviously) water is good but sports drinks like gatorade can help also because the electrolytes can help. I don't know about that but it may be worth a try. If you have habitual calf pain, also try stretching out your calf muscles by extending and flexing your feet and toes. And try a banana (for potassium). But there are obviously other possibilities. Tell your dr about it next time you go in.
