Unfortunately, this information is not readily available, given that the physicians do not want people to misuse the drugs and become high on purpose. What can be mentioned is that gabapentin is given in doses of 100, 300, 400, 600, and 800 milligram doses to patients. You should note, that the higher doses are often given to patients who have been on gabapentin longer and have started to build immunity to the effects of the drug.

Gabapentin is also known as Fanatrex, Gabarone, Neurontin, Nupentin, and Gralise. The drug is pharmaceutical, in that it was developed to treat epilepsy. It has also been found to relieve pain, especially neuropathic pain such as migraines. Patients on this drug, can experience dizziness, peripheral edema, and drowsiness. This especially happens in older patients or younger children. In some cases the drug has been known to increase suicidal acts or create violent deaths given, that the drug may cause depression.

Withdrawal symptoms can occur, should a person discontinue use of Gabapentin. The symptoms are a lot like alcohol withdrawal or benzodiazepine withdrawal. What is known about recreational use, is that it takes high doses of the drug even for those using it for the first time.

A low dose will alleviate pain and most patients can become talkative. Larger doses, will lead to numb feelings and even psychoactive effects like other recreational drugs. A person that has a low tolerance for drugs may find small doses are enough to get high, but in general the higher doses are going to provide a "high" effect for the person. Prisoners and some northern Canadian communities have been found to misuse the drug, but it is largely used properly.
