Weight management is a long-term process. It involves dedication and discipline. Crash diets may help you reduce weight fast, but most people usually gain back all because they haven't yet permanently changed their habits.

So the best weight management strategies are those that you can maintain throughout your life. You can lose weight by following the simple guidelines.

Start a regular exercise program of at least 30 minutes, like brisk walking. The purpose is to use more calories that you consume.

Eat less fat and sugar. Eat low calorie foods. This will help you cut calories.

Eat low fat and high fiber content foods such as salads and vegetable pastas. It will help you meet the entire nutrients requirement of your body.

Eat smaller but more frequent meals. This way the body starts to increase its metabolism so that calories are burned faster.

Keep realistic goals. Do not try to lose most of the weight at one time. If you weigh a lot, try to reduce 5 pounds, relax a bit and then go for 5 more.

Keep a watch on your drinks. Drinks like sodas and sugary juices contain lots of calories. Drink lots of water.

To lose weight today could be difficult if you are used to eating all possible junk food. In order to lose weight you will need to be a teacher to yourself. For losing weight you will need to have a strict diet plan. You should watch your diet. It generally comprises of a lot of fruits, water and also food that is very much less in fat and carbohydrates. Apart from this you can even try and exercise regularly. In case you are not used to exercising and is very much the couch potatoes types then I advise you to loosen up your muscles by getting into 10 minutes exercising for the first few days and then moving into heavy exercising, that is once if your body is used to it. You can increase your exercise period after every four days. Hence the only wait to loose all that weight is by exercising and also at the same time following a strict diet.

Diet and exercise.

If you "tried everything but it didn't work" you probably did it wrong and or didn't do it long enough. I've encountered many people who understate their caloric intake by 1000%. Their first statement before we uncovered the truth was "but I barely eat". Yeah.... Totally.

Losing weight is governed by a very simple theory which is actually quite difficult to put into practice! Whilst pills and potions which promise to deliver spectacular results abound, the reality is that few can deliver. The theory behind weight loss is simply to use fewer calories than you ingest. So you will lose weight. However, it takes circa 3,500 calories just to lose 1lb. This is why it is hard to practice weight loss when the theory is so simple.

Nutritionists and dieticians tend to recommend a slow and steady weight loss is better than starving yourself, so try to cut down on sweets, fats and fried foods. You can then try to speed up your metabolism by doing more exercise. Twenty minutes of an aerobic exercise can raise your metabolic rate for two hours. The metabolic rate is the rate at which you burn calories, so for two hours after exercise, you will burn more calories.

Aim to lose only 1lb-2lbs per week, otherwise if you starve yourself and have a dramatic weight loss you will end up feeling hungry all the time and are more likely to binge on cakes and fatty foods. Also when you starve yourself your metabolic rate decreases, because your body thinks it is in starvation mode, so it tries not to use too many calories. So eat healthily, eat regularly and exercise more and you will lose weight.

The normal calorie intake should be 2000 calories per day.  If you want to lose weight, talke to your mom for some advice.  Maybe you can try cutting calories down to 1500 depending on what your intake of calories is now.  You should be eating 3 healthy meals per day, and healthy snacks.  Drink plenty of water and exercise is the best way to lose weight and keep it off.  Again, don't do this on your own.  Make sure you eat breakfast it is the most important meal of the day.  It stimulates the brain.  Also, make sure each meal you are eating from the 4 food groups.  There are a lot of healthy snacks like crackers and cheese or fruit or vegetables that you can eat for snacks.  You can also ask your mom to take you to the doctor, maybe there is another reason why.  There are tests they can run, also you could meet with a dietician.  But eating healthy, drinking water, and exercising is the best way to lose weight and keep it off.  Stay away from junk food and pop.  If you have a hard time when you have to give in just eat small portions to at least give into the craving just limit the portion.  Good luck.  You can do it...

Well, depending on what your skeletal structure is, you might just have a large structure, in which you would be at about the right weight. If you have a small frame, then you might be considered overweight. I would say that if you are 5ft. 7in. Or 8in. You would be in the right range for your size. You can go to www.wikipedia.org, and type in 'body mass index'. You want to be in the yellow area for average height and weight.
If you should happen to be overweight, then I would suggest that you start eating healthier foods such as fruit and vegeetables, along with fish, chicken, and cut off most of the fat from beef and pork.
The other thing that you are going to want to do is start walking. It is said now that if you want to effectively lose weight, then you should walk, and, not for 15 minutes, a good walk is measured at about 20 minutes with your heart rate slightly elevated. Hope this helps, and good luck to you.

I would just like to add to the answer above that even though you're following a strict diet, make sure it has a lot of variety in it. Otherwise you may find it difficult to stick to your diet or you may give up because the food is too boring. For example, you could have chicken Caesar salad one day and wholegrain pasta with light cheese the next etc.

Everything in your body starts by what you pick up with your hand. Look at what your hand and ask yourself..."Is this the best thing for my body to have in order for him/her to help take care of me?"  Your body is not your enemy, but your friend who only wants the best like clean water, fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy. Your enemy is your mind. Your body says..water, your mind says..soda.  Battlefield is in the mind...says Joyce Meyers (famous teacher and author).

Use common sense and don't fall for a bunch of fad diets. That just doesn't work in the long run. You will just put your metabolism on a go-slow strike and gain weight even faster afterwards! Try to work out a sensible new healthstyle you and your family can follow with ease. Don't deprive yourself totally. Allow for some treats over the weekend, for example. Try to avoid junk food and soda as much as possible. Add some fat-burning exercise to really rev things up. This will also help you to feel good about yourself. In the end, fat-burning is much more important than dieting and calorie counting.

It is simple drink lots of water, and exercise 3-4 times a week. And of course most importantly is to have a balanced diet. A balanced diet consists of fruits, vegetables and meat. Also start eating food that has carbohydrates and proteins. But bear in mind that it is not good for your body if too much of carbohydrates and proteins is taken.

Losing weight is as simple as adhering to a formula...you see...

Your body requires a certain amount of calories to maintain it's current
weight (body weight in lbs x 15)...so if you were 150 pounds, that would be
150x15 = 2,250 calories/day.

To lose 1 pound you need to be in a deficit of 3,500 calories.  So if
you ate 500 calories less than this 2,250 each day (1,750 cals/day) you would
lose 1 pound each week.

Couple that with 1 hour of cardio each day (500 calories burned/h on
average)..you'll burn another 1 pound a week.

As far as what you should be eating?

Well, technically as that 150 pound person, you could be on a diet of 1,750 calories/day of PIZZA and still lose weight, because it REALLY IS as simple as calories in vs calories out.

The only thing is you're not likely to feel full on 1,750 calories of pizza which is why its better to ensure the majority of your diet is lower calorie foods that provide satiety, such as vegetables, lean meats and fruits.

When dieting, just don't go lower than 1,200 calories/day as a woman or 1,500 calories/day as a man as a general guideline...

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. To calculate your weight that you lose you use this Weight Loss Calculator. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don't eat wheat then you don't eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don't eat junk food, and you don't eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It's not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

A plant-based vegetarian diet is healthier and can prevent diseases. According to the American Dietetic Association, vegetarians have a reduced risk of heart disease, obesity, colon cancer, adult-onset diabetes, osteoporosis, gout, gallstones, kidney stones, lung cancer, and breast cancer. A low fat vegetarian diet, combined with regular exercise, helps reduce blood pressure and can control, or even eliminate, non-insulin dependent diabetes.

Here are a few meal plans that might be easy to follow for weight loss:

The Mediterranean diet: This diet focuses on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds, as well as healthy fats from olive oil and avocado. It also includes moderate amounts of fish, poultry, and dairy, and limits red meat and processed foods.

The DASH diet: This diet emphasizes whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, and limits sodium, added sugars, and unhealthy fats.

The Flexitarian diet: This diet promotes mostly plant-based eating, with the occasional inclusion of meat, poultry, and fish. It emphasizes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes, and limits refined grains and added sugars.

The Weight Watchers diet: This diet focuses on healthy, balanced eating and encourages the incorporation of physical activity. It uses a points system to help you make healthy choices and track your progress.

It's important to choose a meal plan that is sustainable for you and that you enjoy, as this will make it easier to stick to in the long term. It may also be helpful to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian to determine the best plan for your needs and goals.
