My mother is refusing to come along with me to London, because she lived in our ancestral home for decades. What is the best (cheapest and fastest) way to send her money in case she falls ill or gets hospitalised?

I would suggest sending her money western union or money order, check , transfer to her banking account, never send cash in the mail your cheapest would be to transfer money to her through checking account but you need access to the Internet and you got have access to online banking..

If you send her cash or money order make sure that you address her to her full name etc.

You don't need to send her money. Just make sure you get her a cashless health insurance plan. If she needs hospitalization, the policy will pay for the treatment. Check their network of hospitals and tell your mum to keep a list of this with her. Encourage her to go for routine health checkups and send you a copy of the reports.
