My husband had a hip replacement and now he is bloated. Any suggestions as what we can do for this?

If the hip is swollen usually an ice pack can make it more comfortable.  Take any pain medication as prescribed by the surgeon.  Try to elevate the leg (like with the person in a recliner) and with a pillow vertically under the leg that had the hip replacement.

Be sure the person is in physical therapy to help regain their movement in the their joint.  The healing process is uncomfortable, but with hard work the person is usually much better off than they were before the surgery.  Ensure that any dressings are applied correctly in a very clean environment.

If this does not go down, pain in intolerable, or your have any questions do not hesitate to contact your healthcare provider or the surgeon.  Wounds do not always heal correctly even with the best of care.  Any good healthcare professional should be happy to ensure their patients heal properly and have their questions answered.
