Yesterday I started burping acid, then it would just come up by itself. Midnight it was really bad & I couldn't sleep. this morning I drank some pepto. it went away in like 5 minutes. hasn't come back. wondering if it was acid reflux?

If it gets worse when you lay down, yes, it could be acid reflux. Best to let your doctor know. You can try elevating your head while you sleep, should help some. Antacids can help, but medications like nexium might help more....talk to your doctor.

I tend to get that, too. A lot. It's not something that's common. I've read that if it happens more than twice a week, then it could be a serious problem. It could be something to do with your diet. I find that on the days I don't drink any soft drinks or any Reeses's (:/), I tend to not get it at all.

Sounds like my OCD. Forcing that won't help, Id take some antacid. Though I'd agree with Walt, it could be acid reflux and you're just aggravating it more by doing that.

edit: disagree* with walt

If you were forcing yourself to burp ... No, that's not acid reflux.

This is GERD or acid reflux so time to see your DR about this or start checking into natural cures but do something soon before it does permanent damage and it will. Good luck

Make sure you use two pillows, don't lie flat in bed, stay away from spicy or greasy foods and if it continues go to see your doctor.  You shouldn't just keep taking Pepto, you may need to see a gastronenterlogist.
