Is there any danger to wearing weight lifting gloves?

The only danger is that they make it more likely that you will drop the weight. Gloves artificially increase the diameter of the bar, making it harder to grip.

If you have trouble gripping the bar, use chalk or straps. Gloves are rubbish.

If you are worried about callouses, gloves do not prevent callous formation. Holding the bar correctly will minimize, but not eliminate callous formation. Some callous formation is inevitable.
