Hi Fitz.  I'm sorry you're so worried.  I hope this gives you some peace.

No, it isn't nearly as dangerous as brain surgery.  It's more comparable to tooth extraction surgery.  There's just a bit more as they "install" the implants.

No, it won't ruin your facial structure.  If your dentist/orthodontist does anything, he'll improve any misalignments you may have.  You'll look better, if it's necessary!  If realigning your mouth is the plan, he will first discuss how best to do so.

A friend of ours got implants.  He LOVES them!  So many people suffer from ill-fitting dentures.  They have mouth sores, and speech issues such as lisping.  That doesn't happen with implants.  He had nothing but praise for the results.

You can talk to your dentist about your fears.  Ask questions about what to expect.  Dentists don't mind these questions.  TONS of people have these exact same concerns!  You are normal to feel anxious.  Calming your fears with knowledge is a regular part of your dentist's day.

I wish you peace, health and a beautiful smile.

Dental implants / brain surgery = ear piercing / brain surgery.

The only similarity is that both are located above your neck.

The implants take a little longer than the ear piercing.  Of course you will have adequate anesthesia for the process.

Structurally, the implants integrate more and more with the bone over time and become a very strong basis for whatever dental individual tooth or appliance you are getting.

Not even close . . One cut's into your gums and puts screws into your jaw . . .

The other is messing with your Grey matter . . . Your whole consciousness can get messed up in Brain surgery . . .

Look up the difference in a the specialty of a Neural Surgeon versus a Oral Surgeon . . . HUGE difference.
