Zika has been around since the 1940's where it was found in Africa. It has been spreading for a long time. I think it is unprecedented how it is being tracked. I cannot think of any disease that has been tracked this well. Plus it is actually winter in Rio, right now and the mosquito is less active. As long as people practice safe sex, and use repellant while there, there shouldn't be a problem. And the mosquitos can only live in certain climates. People in the northern half of the US don't have to worry about the mosquitos.

I think Zika will spread some....it's mosquito born, like malaria, so I think it's inevitable that some infections are noted. However, if it starts transmitting more via the sexual route (which some cases are being looked at and stated as being transmitted this way).....yeah, it's gonna spread.

Yes. Will it get worse. Hundreds of athletes millions of people in Rio hundreds of countries it's going to get worse.  I don't think it will be  pandemic or epidemic, just bad.

It is truly a small world. Travelers as well as produce and man made products cross the world continually.  Every once in awhile you will see a story in the news about someone finding a "mega" bug (as in a large spider) in a shipment of fruit or vegetables from overseas. Best is ti take precautionary actions and be as safe as you can be.

Maybe. We'll find out soon enough. But there's nothing like a good scare story to sell newspapers.

There is a possibility it could happen. If they don't want to bring Zika worldwide, they're going to have to take extra precaution, and make sure that they do what they need to do to keep Zika away!

i think Zika will definitely spread because i am sure mosquitoes would have bitten almost everyone who visited Rio and they are probably unaware of this.
