Unless you are sick, you have no reason not to eat every day. In addition, I hope you are not trolling the site as a question like this is going to give you a lot of harsh responses for you starving yourself and thinking that's fine.

The rough part happens after 72 hours of no eating — this is the stage of autophagy. Once the fats are broken down, your body turns to breaking down protein in muscles, essentially wasting away your muscles. At this point, your brain’s requirement for glucose will have dropped from 120 grams per day to only 30 grams. But your brain will need to start getting energy from protein next. Breaking down protein and releasing amino acids into the bloodstream will produce more glucose; this transformation takes place in the liver, and your brain will be fueled by its much-needed glucose once again. Regardless, though your brain will be able to survive from protein, your muscles will slowly disappear.

If you need to diet, do it the responsible way. Walk an hour every day. Drink a lot of water. Eat fruits and veggies. Cut out the soda, junk food, candy, etc. Starving yourself is NOT the way to go.

Annie, results are not immediate. You have to stick with it as your body adjusts to what you're eating and the exercise you are doing. If you're heavy, you didn't get that way overnight. It takes time and perseverance.

Are you drinking liquids?  I can only assume so .otherwise you would be hospitalized by now .. So the weight gain may be due to your retaining water.

You are starving your body and its rejecting that.  Keep it up and your body will have no choice but to start breaking down muscle.

When the body senses deprivation it starts to slow everything down in order to conserve energy, this means the calories you would usually burn in everyday exercise, will be stored in order to survive. The body, needs food like a car requires petrol in order to go.

You were probably a princess in a previous incarnation. They don't even have to eat the pea pod to gain weight. They just leave it under their mattress and they never get hungry.

I tried it on my kids to save money on food bills but it doesn't work if they've never been a princess.

Unfortunate upbringing. In your part of the world education is probably based on facts. On this side of the Pacific nobody cares what we learn as long as we can make it sound plausible.

Skipping meals is never a good idea to lose weight, because it causes numerous consequences, such as dehydration, exhaustion, fatigue, etc. And in some cases, it can make you gain weight much more easily and quickly if you eat something back. You had better think of having a balanced diet and proper exercise. This is the best way to shed some pounds and don't give you some side effects.

Why are you not eating?

It is good to remember that "Balance" is key. Your physiology depends on a certain balance of the food and drink you consume to maintain proper levels. What you need to sustain your body is "X" . . . Anything about "X" is either disposed of as waste or stored for energy. If you are looking to lose wait, you need to force your body to use that which is already stored, without starving yourself of the "blalance" of nutrients you need to function.
