A week early period does not necessarily mean anything. Periods can often be late or early and this is triggered by a rise in emotions. This can be from stress, depression, sadness or even elated happiness. A woman's menstrual cycle can vary from month to month and one period coming a week early can be perfectly normal.

A woman's menstrual cycle varies from around 21 days but it is normal for a woman's cycle to be shorter or longer sometimes.

However, if you find that this is happening every month then you may want to go and get yourself checked out at the doctor's as it could be a underlying hormone problem. But, if this is first time this has happened, no matter how regular you usually are it is not something to worry about as it is perfectly normal.

A woman's period happens when the lining of the uterus breaks down when it realizes there is nothing in your system to fertilize one of the eggs. This process then creates a small amount of blood and happens every month. A woman's menstrual cycle is counted from day one of the period.  A female's period can start any time between the ages of 8 and 16 years old and usually stops between 45-55 years old.

It means your progesterone and estrogen levels dropped off earlier than normal. Not to be worried though, that's not dangerous, just a little "out of whack". If it is bothersome to you you can get on birth control and that will level out your hormones so you'll be more regular.
