It’s difficult to speculate in individual cases how long an ovarian cyst can delay the menstrual cycle. Indeed, for some women, delayed periods are the norm because of a highly-stressed job, and intermittent periods are common in girls who are going through puberty. If this symptom is being suffered in conjunction with extremely painful periods when they arrive, action is going to be needed to eradicate the ovarian cyst in the most practical way.

At this point, it’s important to think about whether or not you have plans to start a family. One commonly-used course of action for treating ovarian cysts is a hysterectomy, and this will make a woman unable to have children. This can be a difficult decision to make, and if you do have choice in the matter of whether this treatment is used, you may wish to talk to your long-term partner, a family planning clinic or a gynaecologist about what can be done.

Although there are many cases of ovarian cysts that require treatment in the form of surgery or medication, young women may find that the best remedy for treating cysts is to wait for up to 90 days to see if they disappear on their own.  A doctor is the best person to ascertain whether this technique is appropriate, and they may not warm to the idea if the cyst is particularly big in your case.

With a vast array of medical techniques at their disposal, gynaecological specialists are in a great position for treating ovarian cysts of all shapes and sizes.

Ovarian can surely delay or period for months unless your cyst are taking care of. My aunt is a nurse and I was just told couple weeks ago I have cysts and having surgery the 30th to get them removed. I was suppose to start my period 5 days ago, I had terrible as if I was having contractions and obvioulsy something to do with the cysts. Cysts can make your period heavier and even stop.

Yes! An ovarian cyst is something that you need to talk to the doctor about, if you haven't already. That is VERY serious. Please let me know if you need anything, as far as advice goes.

Hey, I have an ovarian cyst right now, and my period should have come on 3 days ago. It is very important that should you suspect you have a cyst, you get it looked at asap if you haven't already. I have absolutely scoured the internet in worry since I found out, but missing a period seems quite common. I think it depends on the size, type and location.

Ovarian Cysts can absolutely delay your period. It depends much on what type of cyst you have, where it is and its size. Cysts, depending on what sort they are, can cause strange hormonal changes down there. Make sure you go to your doc if you are worried, and hopefully you will be able to have some answers

I actually have had 2 cyst on my left ovary and they do indeed cause
missed periods and pregnancy like symptoms .

This month I had a day and a
half cycle which was just breakthrough bleed before my af was even due .
Skipped this cycle and haven't even ovulated  due to the cyst that is
still remaining . Went to my OB yesterday for a scan one has already
disappeared .

The cyst altered my life this month causing daily
headaches ,period like cramps for 2 weeks , extreme exhaustion , mood
swings , acne , and even breast pain .I have never skipped a cycle in my
life so indeed it can spontaniously stop your cycles .

I was put on
provera to induce my cycle yesterday and I have never had to do that
before . Good luck . Every woman is different!
