8.5 is fairly high for a man of your Fathers age, normally it should be around 6.5 for him, but just because PSA is elevated this does not necessarily mean he has prostate cancer, there are other explanations, such as a benign prostate, an urinary infection, a full bladder to name just a few. Have regular check-ups.
