Can Warfarin Cause Low Blood Platelet?
Warfarin is anticoagulant or blood thinner. It causes many side effects like hemorrhage (bleeding from nose, gums, urine, stool and coughing of blood). Warfarin reduces the blood platelets by masking the effects of vitamin K which is necessary to produce a clotting factor like prothrombin. This causes thinning of blood and delayed clotting.
