Ranitidine is a drug. It inhibits stomach acid secretion and is used as a medicine to treat peptic ulcers, gastritis and esophageal reflux. Zantac is the trade name of this drug manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. It is also available in the over-the-counter form as Pfizer. This drug was first developed by Glaxo.

This drug shouldn't be used by people who are suffering from any kind of kidney disease, liver disease or porphyria. It may have side effects like chest pain, shortness of breath, unusual weakness, erratic heart rate, vision problems and shore throat. It may also affect sexual activity as in it may cause reduced sex drive, impotence or a difficulty in having an orgasm. It may also cause problems in ejaculation and reduction of sexual desire in both men and women.
