I can tell you from my own experience that giving birth is both a painful, challenging yet rewarding experience.

The pain you can experience through giving birth can range from mild to severe and can also take the form of a severe period pain.  Some women have described giving birth as 'like a box of chocolates' as you never know what you are going to get until you experience it yourself!

My labour started early morning and I gave birth in the afternoon with 8 long hours of breathing, pushing and taking in the oxygen, it most definitely was an unforgettable experience.

Every mother has a different experience some have a quick and easy labour and some have a more challenging one but it always helps to discuss the various pain relief available to you before labour so that it can help you to cope with the contractions.

The epidural can really help take the pain away although you may find it harder to push. There are a variety of pain relief options and it would be best to discuss your options with your doctor according to your individual health requirements.

At the end of all the hard work of labour, you get to the most beautiful moment... seeing the life that has been nestled inside you for 9 months in front of your eyes. It is truly an emotional experience to see your daughter or son before your eyes and it actually makes you completely forget about the last few hours you may have experienced in labour!

Giving birth is an experience unique to every individual and I wish all those who are on the brink of giving birth a wonderful and easy labour!
