The first tip is to do research. There are a lot of programs available for free that will allow you to get started. My suggestion is to join a local running group. It works so well! Running is usually a solitary sport but it's really useful to get to know the local runners and to ask them questions. Community is what will give you support when you struggle ( and you will, trust me) and you will feel part of something bigger. The local group will have some sort of routine they use to train and you can use the pieces you like. Lastly, you will become a much better runner faster by joining the group.
