My unwanted calories come in the form of sweets (: When the urge to splurge on sweets hits me i usually drink a large glass of very cold water (which fills you up) and then i go for a 1/2 hour walk or bike ride. By the time I'm done the urge is gone (:
Drink some flavored water, chew gum... sugarless of course!
Don't calorie restrict! Look up your basal metabolic rate and needs. You can monitor how much you're eating by using Cronometer.com
What's important to lose weight is not how many calories you're eating, but where you're calories are coming from.
I know everybody's different, but for me calorie restricting didn't work in the least. Because I was always hungry, I created for myself an eating disorder of binging. And that only made things worse! I gained ten pounds in one year when I had meant to lose five pounds. Calorie restricting doesn't work for me.
How I eat now is 80/10/10. Cronometer.com even has the option. It's taking 80% of my calories from carbohydrates (the healthy kind), 10% from protein, and 10% from fats. If you've ever heard of athletes carbo loading, that's basically what I'm doing every day. And I'm mostly vegan. Don't let that scare you away from eating this way though. You don't have to be vegan to achieve great results. I think this diet is just a step away from paleo. I encourage you to check out "freelee the banana girl" and "dr. Mcdougal."
I'm currently on my way back to healthier weight. But now I don't even care about the weight because Im not bloated any more. I look better all over. In my arms, my legs, my face, and especially my stomach. I'm only talking four or five pounds of water weight, but I look and feel so much better. Also my acne cleared up. I even allow myself treats, like for my dad's birthday; I had a slice of cake, and the only side affect I expierienced was a little bad digestion as you can expect with those foods.
Best of luck, and I hope you achieve the results you want.
I would say, anytime you eat seek to replace some of the things example you want to eat a tuna sandwich, eat the tuna and replace the bread with a hard vegetable like carrot or with a fruit like an apple. You would have accomplish 2 things, less carb and some valuable sweets and no pounds gain.
Check the site easydietfordiabetes, for more information and meals with low carbs to help you lose weight the healthy way
Go ahead and eat it...whatever you want, as much as you want.
The only rule is that you have to eat it while looking at yourself naked in a full body mirror.
