My hair has been getting greasy due to showering everyday, should I start showering every 3 days? How often do you shower??

I'm not convinced that showering daily is the cause.  It's true you can overstimulate the sebaceous glands, but a one-a-day shower isn't extreme.  Genetics and hormonal shifts are more common.

I went through a few sites.  Here's a link for you.  Just search "oily hair causes and treatment" for more.

Personally, as a teen I shampooed daily and conditioned only once or twice a week.

As a young adult, I shampooed and conditioned daily.

Now in my middle age, my hair is dryer.  I shampoo & condition every other day.  On the days I don't shampoo, I rinse well in the shower and condition with a thorough rinse.

Showering everyday will not cause greasy hair. I used to have very oily hair and if I didn't wash it daily it would have just been plastered to my head. I never used conditioner and washed it daily. The only thing that has cut the oil down was coloring it and menopause. Now I wash it every other day and use conditioner.

I love to put off washing my hair lately because I completely ran out of conditioner.. Oh well :) It's not gross because I keep spraying texturizing spray in to make it look good and not smell bad. Invest in a dry shampoo! Batiste is like $5 at your local drugstore. When your hair gets greasy again, spray that in, and keep going until you need to wash it again :) You can also try just rinsing it some days or rinsing and adding conditioner when necessary. When I had colored hair I washed it 1-2 times a week and it wasn't gross. Good luck!

Your hair won't get greasier by frequent showering.  (You're going to have body odor problems if you only shower every 3 days!)  I shower every day and my hair is fine.  Maybe you're overconditioning your hair or have some health related things going on that's affecting your hair.
