When you burn more calories then you are taking in, the stored energy (in the form of fat) is burned to make up the difference.
That is as basic as it gets . . .
What affects the burning of more calories is determined by what course of action/actions you take.

what exactly is fat loss. Everything i sniff goes straight to my hips.
Limiting calories and in turn your body uses up stored fat thus the fat loss.
