I've never saved a life, that I know of but my dad saved me from drowning when I was about 4-5 years old. I still remember the details.

About 20 years ago I was swimming at a deserted beach and got caught in a rip. I could have swum out of it if there hadn't been a vortex at the end of some rocks. Forget about going down three times, I lost count of the number and was totally exhausted. Then I realised that one young guy had actually carried his surfboard through more than a mile of bushland to get to the beach and I started yelling.

I never saw him again but I owe him my life.

Much like Tris, I owe my life to a couple doctors. I was a super premature baby with a twin (who did not survive long) after five or six miscarriages. I'm often called a miracle baby.

I have not saved anybody's life, but I hope to one day.

I watched my next-door neighbour collapse and fall into the path of cars driving to the station at speed.

I heard the noise as his head hit the kerb. I thought he must be badly hurt.

I and a passer-by pulled him clear of the road, I screwed up my jacket so that he had a pillow on the pavement.

It was an epileptic session.

He "recovered" about 20 minutes later.

And then was very rude and angry with all of us......

I'll still try to save a life, and I don't need gratitude.

More than likely, he reacted like that, because he was embarrassed to be seen by others, in that helpless state. His pride was hurt, I'm thinking. Try not to hold it against him. You did the right thing.

Although it was long ago during the war ? I saved some lives and had mine saved also. It's what soldiers will do when you're all brothers. Received a Silver Star for one of those exploits. A Bronze Star for another.

I've had my life saved two times by the same person. Good thing was she was there at the right place and the right time. I almost killed one of my cousins once but luckily, saved him.

It's not a big thing, but I owe my life as it is to many doctors in hospitals in both New South Wales and Queensland.  Without them, I don't know if I would be alive, butI know that if I was still alive, I would not have the freedom to do everything that I can if it weren't for them.
