Saliva production in dogs can be normal under some conditions like stimuli to food and excitement but sudden and excessive salivation in dogs can be due to some problems. These problems can be
  1. Metabolic disorders
  2. Stomach disorders
  3. Tongue injury
  4. Mount ulcers
  5. Tumors in mouth
  6. Gum and dental diseases
For proper treatment, all clinical symptoms should be evaluated by the vet to find out exact cause. If your dog is also having some other symptoms of illnesses then immediate visit to vet is recommended.
