A surform file is a similar tool to a rasp, the surform file comprises of coarse individual teeth that are like the rasp and are used for the cutting of wood. The thing about the surform file is that it has a small hole near each of its teeth; this allows the shavings to pass through and prevent clogging. The surform tools come in various different styles and the shapes which include the file plane, the round file and tools for shaping and shaving wood.
