An arthroscopy, which is also called an arthroscopic procedure, is defined as a type of surgical procedure which permits the orthopaedic surgeon to put in a device which is as thin as a pencil. This device has a lens which is small in size and a lighting system which is capable of making tiny incisions in order to look inside the joint.
An open surgery, which is also called an open surgical procedure, is sometimes necessary and is usually associated with results which are better than the results of an arthroscopic surgical procedure. Open surgical procedures can also be conducted by making small incisions which are just a few inches wide. The recovery and rehabilitation of a patient depends upon the type of surgical procedure which is performed inside the shoulders.
