ALT is an enzyme and its levels are high in the liver. ALT test can tell about the liver damage. Single test of ALT will not help to diagnose the problem. Many other tests usually liver functions tests are recommended. Normal levels of ALT are 10-32 you/L. An ALT levels of 70 are high and can be due to drug induced hepatitis or viral hepatitis. But confirmation requires many other tests.
