Kenneth Z Taylor was convicted of his wife's murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison as a result. Given the time that has elapsed since, it is very likely that Mr. Taylor remains in jail or could have passed away. The current whereabouts of his son is not known for sure.

  • What happened?

When the murder of Mrs. Teresa Taylor was murdered with a blunt weapon in the Taylor family home in New Jersey, their son, Philip Andrew Taylor was only five months old. Upon police investigation, Mr. Kenneth Taylor was arrested, convicted and jailed for her murder. He was sentenced to 30 years with no parole.

Upon his incarceration, the custody of young Philip was given to Mrs. Taylor's sister, Celeste White and her husband. Philip then lived in New York with them for a period of time. The legislation for Philip's custody also stated that he could visit his father's parents, who were living in Indiana at the time, in the summer.

  • An appeal by grandparents for adoption rights

However, his paternal grandparents then went about with their own scheme to adopt Philip. They appealed to the courts in Indiana for permission to adopt Philip; an action that was then permitted by the judge. As a result, Philip was kept in Indiana with his grandparents the next time he visited them.

However, the case was taken to five different judges in Indiana and there does not appear to be any record of the result.

Update: The adoption of the child was vacated by the parents of Ken Taylor and her sister, Celeste White and husband Philip adopted the little boy as one of their own.  Ken Taylor's parental rights
were ultimately stripped,.

While in the Navy in Groton,CT, I was attending group therapy when our group was told that a new member would be joining us who had been in the news recently. It was Kennith Taylor who had attempted to murder his wife using chloroform to render her unconscious, and then had second thoughts about completing the deed. After he agreed to seek counceling, she dropped the charges. Imagine my horror when a few years later I learned he had actually murdered her. All accounts that I have read about the murder seem to know nothing about the first attempt. I hope he never gets out. There is no rehabilitation for a sociopath like him.

I looked him up a prisoner web site and he is currently in a Conn. Prison. Born on Feb, 6, 1949 Taylor is now 66 years old and was about 35 or so at the time of the murder of his wife on November 14, 1984. He was convicted of murder in Oct., 1985 and pulled a 30 year sentence. So that meant he could be released this year. But he tried to escape and if my memory is intact he pulled another 4 years in addition to the 30 years for the murder.

I was thinking about Teresa Taylor's son who was adopted by her sister and BIL Something else I read said that the father of Kenneth Z Taylor is dead from a car accident and I can only assume that Jean Taylor is dead as well. He had an older sister and a younger brother named Tom. But he was a horrible person leaving his first to fend for herself when she was nine months pregnant. His father was on hand at the hospital when she delivered his first daughter and Kenneth denied her as his although she was and also denied to sign away parental rights so his wife's second husband could adopt her. The first wife name was Emily.

Then he married the red-headed Marilyn and she gave him a daughter as well. Read Peter Maas' book "In A Child' Name: Story of a Mother's Legacy." Read about female attorney,  the compassionate lawyer that finally got full custody for the sister of Teresa Taylor. She has to be a wonderful human being. So in summary, Philip Andrew the 5 month old baby is now 31. He was formally adopted by his maternal aunt and her husband. At the time of the writing of the book they also had 2 daughters, one born only 3 days after the return of Philip Andrew to them.

They were given different names in the movie for privacy reasons I guess and out of respect for that I refuse to disclose their true names. I have no information on the sister's parents but she did have a younger brother. Teresa was the eldest of three children and was born in 1959. Once you get ahold of the book you won't be able to put it down. The bulk of this information comes from the book with the exception of where Kenneth is today and the death of his father. That came from the internet. I hope this helps.
