I'm a medic in the army. My suggestions come from having to carry litters with heavy patients or casualties. Never bend at the waist, bend at the knees and lift with your legs. Keep your arms somewhat bent and never fully extend your elbows. You really shouldn't lift overhead but if you must bend your arms so that you can safely rotate your wrists and use your upper arms to push upward. Never ever reach over that can seriously injure your back. Anything else or more details please ask me. Be safe!!!!
