Blood basically consists of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and blood plasma. Blood cells are formed in the bone marrow. The thymus gland also takes part in the formation of white blood cell (lymphocytes). Many of the proteins of blood plasma are formed in liver. The endocrine glands produce the hormones of the blood. So these parts of the body contribute to the blood formation.
