If you have an ER morphine tablet, a common method of (effective quick) preparation is to crush it up finely and dissolve it as well as you can in a shot glass of water. Once it's dissolved, you can quickly down it (make sure it's on an empty stomach!) and you'll reach a nod in no time.

I Have had a Chronic Pain disorder since I was a child and have been on every narcotic available for pain management - I'm now 28. Doctors will have you believe that its the worst thing you can possibly do - but the bottom line is there is a DIFFERENCE between *dependency* and *addiction* For example, a diabetic is DEPENDANT on Insulin, but not addicted. Sure, they need it to continue their quality of life, but no one would ever dare accuse a diabetic of being a drug addict because its a medical requirement.

Its not that different with Narcotics. In fact, statistically, folks who have a CHRONIC pain condition almost NEVER become ADDICTS. The people who become addicts are those who do not depend on it for long term quality of Life. Such as a car accident victim who's pain is only expected to last a couple months. But for people who need it to be able to cook their dinner or visit with a friend or see a movie, we respect it waaaay to much to abuse it. As a result of the AMA (who are on crack) and the FDA and the DEA all trying to stop patients from abusing narcotic pain meds, the bottom line is those of us who actually NEED the medicine are being denied due to idiots who are absuing the drugs. Even though I've never, NOT EVER, abused my medicine, I am given a Urine test every three or so months, even though my doctor doesnt think I'm a danger for drug abuse, the doctoers who don't see me regularly treat me like a drug addict.

If you have a choice, don't abuse the medication - not only is it stupid for your own health and well being, but you damage those of us who require it for quality of life because its becoming increasingly difficult to get any kind of pain management if you are not considered TERMINAL.

Morphine is one of the cleaner drugs out there, Methadone being one of the more dangerous drugs - The liquid stuff moves through your system incredibly quickly and has a very short "half-life" - long term, it does much less damage to your body then doctors and idiot AMA/FDA/DEA would have you believe. I am more and more dissapointed with the American Medical Association as it appears they are far more interested in getting people to take drugs with TONS of side effects then actually managing pain because the bottom line is the new drugs make them way more money the Morphine does.

For those of you who are abusing these medicines - if you don't care about your own health think about how DIFFICULT you will make it for people like me to get the genuine help we need. Without my morphine I'm in so much agony I lay in bed and cry all day long, and despite that, it took 6 months to get my doctor to perscribe me a "workable" and "livable" dosage because she was so terrified of getting in trouble. So she would rather have sat there watching me in agony then get me the right dosage in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not alone in this experience. If you don't care about your own life and health and well being consider what impact your actions have on others because trust me - it DOES have an impact on others.

There is a liquid morphine for injection and a liquid morphine for oral use.  I don't have a clue how anybody would think that it would "freeze your lungs."  It is possible to suppress breathing with morphine.  That's how an overdose kills you.  You stop breathing.  But it is possible to drink the oral morphine.  If this is for a recreational event you are being very stupid.  This stuff can easily kill you.  If it's from a doctor you should have been given instructions as to how to use it.  I have been prescribed morphine for five years now and it's a huge problem for me. Don't start you won't like it.
