Many people will think blood is a solution. The truth is, blood is a suspension.
Define Suspension: A mixture of two chemicals with the character that one does not rapidly settle out, BUT will eventually, unlike a colloid.
Define Solution: A homogeneous mixture composed of two or more substances
Define Colloid: A type of homogenous mixture with two separate phases: A dispersed phase and a continuous phase. (How many people know this anyways? Scientists in any field are exceptions.)
Now there's something called a centrifuge.
If you define it: An apparatus that uses centrifugal force to separate particles from a suspension
Should you put blood in a centrifuge, it separates into layers. A solution does not separate. A colloid is homogenous, like a solution. A suspension can be separated.
