The lymphatic system is the body's way of getting rid of toxins. A swollen lymphnode means it is full of something your body is trying to get rid of. The two under the jawbone on each side of the neck often swell up when you have a cold or the flu. If only one of them do, it is either blocked or there is an infection on that side somewhere. It could be an infected tooth or a sinus infection or something like that. You can kind of massage it to try to get it to drain even though it will be very sensitive and tender. See a doctor if it doesn't get any better.
