Inderal is the brand name of the drug propranolol. Propanolol is a beta-blocker, which is used to treat tremors, angina, hypertension and heart disorders.

Usually, Inderal should be out of the blood stream of an individual approximately forty-eight hours after it was last taken.

How long does propanolol/Inderal stay in your system?
Other factors will influence how long it takes for a substance to leave a person's body:

  • Everybody has their own natural rate of metabolism, which will determine how fast a substance is ejected from the body.
  • The amount of the medication that has been taken will also affect how long it takes for the medication to leave the system. The higher the dosage, the longer it takes to exit the system.
  • Other factors such as a person's weight, gender and age can also have an impact on the amount of time it takes for medication to leave a person's system.
If you are still incertain about how long it takes your body to rid itself of Inderal, then you should consult your local doctor or pharmacist.

Inderal contains propranolol which is a non-selective beta blocker and is used to treat high blood pressure, angina and tremors.

After taking this medicine, peak plasma levels are achieved within 1-3 hours.

It has a half life of 3-4 hours and its metabolite has half life of 5.2-7.5 hours.

So, a single dose can take 14-20 hours for complete elimination with normally-functioning kidneys.

To help lower blood pressure and remain calm, 20mg to 40mg can be taken
approximately 1-hour before the "feared" event. The dose may be repeated
later in the day if required, however we do not recommend more than
80mg daily unless under a physician's supervision.

Those who are diabetic, or have existing heart, kidney or liver disorders should consult with your physician first, before use.
