Blood sugar levels measured before meals called fasting blood sugar test. This test is done with 8 hours of fasting. Normal levels are 70-100 milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood. Blood sugar levels are also measured 2 hours after meals. Normal levels for this test are 70-145 milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood. Another sugar test is random blood sugar test which can be done any time regardless of meals. Random sugar levels should be less than 200 milligrams of glucose per deciliter of blood.
Random blood sugar 2 hrs after food 5.2 whether it is a good value or not
I have always had a normal blood sugar reading, until last week , I was told to fast and I did and but I did chew some gum before I had the test, it was sugar less, but they told me that it came out as 123, that was the very first time I ever had it that high, I am over weight, I also was told that I have a very low thyroid, could that of caused my sugar to go up, my doctor said that one test that comes out a little bit high, does not mean you have sugar, my husband has low sugar and he checks him self every day, and most of the times his ranges 116. And when he eats it is about 127. So I am very confused. Thank you susan clark
