I have been to one before the actual adjustment usually brings immediate relief, but once the muscles get to relax into place they may be tender for a few days until they have time to repair themselves. Most do x rays and then adjust you after you have had time to relax... My mom found out she has one leg longer than the other seeing a chiropractor and ever since she started wearing a small lift in her shoe she hasn't had any issues. They can also show you simple exercises to strengthen the back muscles to prevent future back issues.

Interesting idea, I look forward to reading more, Chiropractic treatment is one of the best methods for treating numerous health problems naturally. After years of experience being a chiropractor, I found that it is a powerful way to solve pain conditions, like headaches, neck pain and back pain, as well as many non-pain condition as well, such as fatigue, sleep problems, and sinus problems.

I went to the chiropractor after having been diagnosed with virla meningitis. After the 4 attempts of a lumbar puncture all failing I was left with severe headaches which stayed for weeks on end. I went to see a chiropractor and they worked a miracle. They released all the tension in my upper back muscles and neck and my headaches were eased something pain killers couldnt fix. Chiropractors are not about "curing" a particular thing they try and pay attention and help that thing but more importantly provide a general over all well being. Its about letting your body learn to help itself without medicine and man made things. Everyone is different but for me they have never caused pain, nothing but help me feel more flexible as well as improve my posture and slight case of scoliosis. Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't judge a chiro till you been there.

I went to the chiropractor for my lower back when my masseuse could no longer do anything for me and the experience was not entirely painful.  It was unexpected, but not painful.  He may not even crack your back, he could do other motions.  Chiropractors do all sorts of things not just back cracking.

Jim1949 has a very western view of medicine, in that if you have a pain in your side, they look only at your side.  In reality, doctors like Chiropractors and Acupuncturists take a more holistic approach.  Don't believe it works?  The Chinese have been practicing these things for centuries (long before Europeans were going barbers and having their blood let) and have been a healthy and populous people.  They must be doing something right...

And the average age/longevity of a Chinese adult male is 63. Doesn't sound like acupunture is working too well, does it? And if you want a good massage, skip the chiropractor, go to a massage therapist, and leave with a lump in your hip pocket - it would be the money left in your wallet.

I have the best chiropractor in the world . I call him the Miracle Man". He never ever hurts me
but he gets the job done. I feel a little tired afterwards but am never in pain. I have been going to him for years. You may have to try different ones to find a good one. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Good luck. Monika

I would re-consider, I went to see a chiropractor last week for a stiff / sore neck, and left with a badly bruised, maybe broken rib. I am taking major pain killers, can't bend, laugh or breathe deeply - I wish I hadn't gone.

Treatment/Therapy for Chiropractor really work well for musculoskeletal problems and nerve related problems. Though this method working well your chiropractor should be an experienced and registered also with govt. Approved association. Chiropractors are available locally you can found one of them nearby you.

Yes.  This  profession is all quacks.  I was seriously injured by a chiropractor and am unable to sit or stand at all.  I went in for headaches and ended up with a massive whiplash injury which effected the whole spine.  I have burning pains down both arms and legs 24/7.  There is no scientific evidence that chiropractor's help any condition.  To the contrary manipulations cause:  Strokes, paralysis, ligament laxity, tendon damage, facet damage and more.  Please reconsider.  First of all an x-ray does not show soft tissue.  If most injuries are soft tissue damage then why would a chiropractor use a tool that cannot diagnose anything.  Because they get paid for manipulations and that is what you will get whether you need it or not.   And yes this could kill you.  Chiropractors are ranked one of the most deceitful professions.  Look it up they are right near used car salesmen. They only need a 2.0 to get into school.  Would you go to a doctor that had a 2.0?  Try physical therapy, some DO do gentle movement to get the body to heal, acuscope, myopulse.  Never let anybody do high velocity manipulations.  I wish I could go backwards.  My life is completely ruined and the medical bills have ruined me financially.

Chiropractor medicine  stems from the belief that many maladies eminate from the spine, as they say it is an extension of the brain, or central nervous system. What you should expect is a possible momentary ease of pain, then you pay him , then the pain returns and you go see him again. And he's got you like a junkie on a heroin habit. How this legal quackery has been allowed to exist is one of the great mysteries of the world. It's your decision on who treats you. I would go to a real doctor who can identify your problem and possibly cure it so it doesn't return rather than a man who spends less time becoming a chiropractor than it takes for someone to become a licensed plumber.

Ya my dad told me that once i start seeing a chiropractor that I'll have to keep going back all the time...

That's because they don't heal anything. They are one step up from a witch doctor. Think about it - what does having your back "aligned" going to fix?
