In British English (and by extension, in all the countries of the Commonwealth where English is spoken), the spelling of the word counsellor is c-o-you-n-s-e-l-l-o-r. It is the universal spelling of the word counsellor. In American English, the word counsellor is spelt with just one l. That is, the American spelling of the word counsellor is c-o-you-n-s-e-l-o-r (that is, counsellor).

The word counsellor is defined as a person who gives people advice about their problems and helps them to solve them. A counsellor is also defined as a person who has supervisory duties at a summer camp. A counsellor is another word which is synonymous with the word advocate. A counsellor or an advocate is defined as a lawyer who pleads cases in a court of law.

The word counsellor (which is also spelt as the word counsellor) is basically the general definition for any person who offers advices and is also appointed in schools and colleges to assist and advise students to solve their academic, vocational and personal matters.
