I am just embarking on the same career path and know a little about this, however it does depend on what type of counsellor you want to be I am training to be a person centred counsellor.

You need to contact your local college, where I live you need to do a 12 week induction, followed by 4 years of part time study (one evening a week) the first year is counselling skills the second is counselling studies then you have to pass an exam and have an interview to be accepted onto the diploma in counselling. The CPCAB website is very good check it out

Hello there,

How about looking up rhodes wellness college... They offer a lot of different options. If you do everything that is required you then write your exam. If you pass the exam you get your credentials. It's not easy but it is great learning experience and you do get jobs after.  GOOD LUCK
