I Get The Seasonal Flu Shot Every Year. This Year I Got The H1N1 Shot... The Very First Time I Got A Flu Shot 6 Years Ago I Got The Flu.. But I Didn't Give Up.. I Got Another One Again The Next Year.. And I Haven't Had The Flu Of Any Kind  In 7 Years... I Can't Take Most Meds Because I Have A Rapid Heart Rate.. So I Can Only Use.. Like Ricola Vicks VapoRub And Sucrets And Tylenol.. So My Flu Would Last Like 2 Weeks.. My Flu Gets To The Point Where I'd Rather Be In A Coma; Because I Can't Take Decongestants..  I Think In Part Your Body With Repeated Doses Builds Up A Immunity.. Both My Sons Got The Flu .. My Sister Got The Flu.. My Next Door Neighbors All Wound Up Getting The Flu... They All Don't Like Getting Any Kind Of Prevention Thing.. I Never Got Sick...I Am ...All About Being Proactive... I Didn't Want The Nasal One Because It Didn't Seem Strong Enough.. You Have To Be Able To Afford Them.. I Have  Some.. Insurance. So I Could. It Should Be Free To People Who  Have Lost Their Jobs... Or Are Retired

The flu shot is very misunderstood. Some people get them and get the flu anyway. That is because the flu vaccine is a cocktail that immunizes one against approximately forty-eight of the most common viruses prevalent  the previous flu season. The rhino virus is about forty eight percent each year so it is always in the cocktail. The people who who take the shot and still get sick likely caught a virus that is new or one that was rare the season before and thus not in the cocktail.
So they do work but they are not perfect.

Proof positive, who knows. I pose a question. Have you taken a flu shot this year?  Have you had the flu?  If you've been flu free then Yes, it most likely worked, if you have had the flu after the shot then maybe it didn't work.  Your immune system has much to do with what diseases we are exposed to and how susceptible to them we are..

I does for me...though I usually
show flu-like symptoms with in 12 hours.
I'm told that the shot didn't cause it,
that the virus is 'dead'.  So, how
come I have the one right after the other?
Anyway, yes it helps...but it doesn't
stop everything.  It just protects you from
the viruses that the vaccine covers.
As I understand it, the flu keeps mutating
all the time into something different.  And the
flu shot doesn't cover that, until the next
batch of vaccine that comes out.
By then, there's something new going around.

I have to say that I avoid as many vaccines as possible.  Most contain Thimerosol (containing Mercury), and also contain Aluminum.  Because I'm a Nurse, hopefully I have built up  immunity to a lot of things.  For others, it is helpful to get enough sleep, regular exercise and  a diet with fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and fish. If possible, also avoid large groups.

Some may help, but the new vaccines have not been proven yet. There is no 100% vaccine for the flu and the new stuff has not been tested long enough. Take it at your own risk. Not me...

Yes, but not for everyone.

Years ago, a friend of mine got the Salk vaccine for Polio, and it actually GAVE him Polio.

The swine flu vaccine worked for me for the first time.  There were many around me getting it.  I have not had a flu shot in over 15 years.

The flu vaccine really works for the strain it was designed for. However, there are so many different kinds of flu viruses that you can still get 'a' flu, just not the one you were vaccinated for.

I don't take it because the so-called side effects sound to me like they would be worse than the flu itself. I am a stay at home worker, so I don't get exposed as much as most people would, anyway.

90 % of the vaccines work. 10 % of flu vaccines given to people don't work, because of un-common illness, that they already have.
