My rdw is 15.1 and my mcv is normal. what does this mean?

RDW is your full blood count number. It will tell if you have any type of anemia and such.

MCV stands for mean corpuscular volume. It is an estimate of the average size of a red blood cell.

RDW stands for Red Cell Distribution Width.

It seems your percentage for RDW is 15.1%. That's actually a bit higher than the range allows it. The range for it is between 11.6-14.6%. Yours isn't too high, so I wouldn't be worried. Besides, reference ranges may vary depending on the individual laboratory and patient's age.

If you were recovering from anemia, it most likely means that your body is working overtime to produce new red cells.
