A "black eye" is caused by bleeding beneath the skin around the eye. You might have hit your head close enough to your eye that it caused it. Just put some ice on it to stop the swelling and it should clear up within a week.
I hit my head on a metal shelf. It was on my left side near forehead. My eye is now black and blue. I don't understand, I hit my head not my eye?
