Although Ebola isn't curable right now, it soon will be. All the world's finest scientists are working on a vaccination to prevent it from spreading, as well as a cure for people who are already infected.

Meanwhile, try not to worry too much.
I know it is a terrible disease, but it is not easy to catch, at least in the more developed countries.

At the moment, with the right treatment, and dependent on the general fitness and age of the sufferer, there is a good chance that Ebola sufferers will survive in countries like the USA and Europe.

Patients would be put on an IV drip and monitored continuously, plus anyone they had been in direct contact with would be isolated until it was evident that they were not carrying the disease also.

By the time Ebola is contagious though, it is rather evident that the sufferer has the disease and would feel too ill to socialise. Therefore, there is even less chance of it being passed on.

In places where Ebola is rife (Africa for example) conditions are rather different, and many people will be in contact with the sufferer during the duration of their illness.

There is also a custom of kissing the dead goodbye and, unfortunately, the dead are most contagious.

Rest assured that a cure is on the way and hopefully a vaccination for all of us too.
