As I have fairly sever arthritis, I need exercise that has low impact. I have a recumbent exercise bike at home. I do just over 100 miles per week. I do about 11.25 - 11.35 miles two times a day on Monday through Thursday and then I do it on Friday morning. I take off Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. I completely disagree that this isn't exercise. It has been great for me. I've been up to 100 miles per week for a bit over a year but I've been riding my exercise bike for over 5 years.
