My doctor's appointment person wouldn't schedule me until Feb 1, and I am on heart medicine and not feeling well for 2 weeks. What should I do?

If your doctors office has a P.A. That practices in the office, they are usually easier to get an appointment with. However, if you are unable to get into your doctor within a couple of days, I'd really think about seeking another primary care doctor. In the meantime, an urgent care center or the emergency room would be viable options.

Did you explain to the receptionist that you are not feeling well?  A doctor will generally try to make time for a person who is having a problem, as opposed to a routine followup.  Call the office and ask to speak with a nurse.

If a doctor won't fit you in, in a reasonable time then it's time to find another doctor.  You're on heart medication so if you say you're not feeling well they should pay attention.  I've worked in the medical profession and patients are squeezed in all the time.

If you really feel unwell and you don't say what your symptoms are, then you should go to the ER and they will call your doctor to come see you if they feel it's necessary. Sometimes receptionists have no idea who needs to be seen ASAP and who can wait.

Are you just not feeling well in general, or do you think it is something more serious? If you feel it is more serious, did you explain the seriousness to the appointment setter? If not call back and stress your point. If that doesn't work ask to talk to the doctor and tell him/her if you should come one sooner or if maybe you should go to the hospital.
