Drug abuse is when you take more than the prescribed amount or for the wrong condition, etc. Drug addiction is when your body begins to need the drug to function properly and will eventually need more and more in order to create the same feeling. These two terms usually go hand in hand.

Drug Abuse: The misuse of prescription or over-the-counter drugs
