after being a heavy drinker for years, my last drink was sunday. I have been prescribed tramadol, am I safe to use it?

As long as you use it without drinking any alcohol! Tramadol can be pretty strong on it's own depending on the strength. Not a drug to take while drinking. If you look it up or ask your Pharmacist , you'll find that they will tell you not to drink alcohol with this drug.

Yes, it's safe to take it. As long as you are not drinking currently, or drink while you're taking the medication, it'll be fine.

I would not take any pain pills. But that is up to you and your sobreity and your doctor

If you weren't or your DR had any notions about you abusing both , he would not have prescribed them to you.  Now none of us can monitor you to make sure so its really up to you as to what you do but I hope for your and your Familys sake, if applicable,  you wont mix the two ever as the results could be castrophic.  So take them as prescribed only and with no alcohol please and contact your DR immediately if you fall off the wagon and do something stupid here. Good luck and if you need someone to talk to, Im around on here and am trained to help in these situations
