Can You Die From Scoliosis Surgery?

It is possible to die. It depends on what situation you are in. I was just in for a scoliosis surgery of 89 degree curve, but now a days it is very rare that you would die in a scoliosis surgery. Lets put it this way- you will probably NOT die in your surgery.

No matter the type of surgery, there is always risks involved.  Some people have been known to pass away from a heart attack during a simple procedure, I know, someone I know just died about 3 weeks ago, whileas others can have pretty complicated surgery with no ill side effects.  Of course there is always a risk, but you have to consider what will happen if you don't get the surgery.  If this will rid you of horrible pain down the line, it is definitely something to go for.

It is possible to die with any surgery.

My mother died on Friday of a heart attack within 10 minutes of the completion of her scoliosis surgery. She had just been moved to recovery when it happened. All pre-surgical tests indicated she would be fine and there were no complications during the procedure.
