  • About child psychology

A regularly studied section of psychology, child psychology concentrates not only on the behavior of children mentally, but on how their social and emotional maturity progresses too.

Once viewed as a miniature version of their elders, it wasn't until relatively recently that it was proposed that children actually reason differently in comparison to adults.

There are many different topics that fall under the umbrella of child psychology, all of which have been studied thoroughly throughout the years. There are eight main subjects in total, all of which must be considered when looking at a child in this kind of light.

These eight are: Prenatal development, gender roles, genetics, social growth, sexual development, personality development, and cognitive development.

The examination of all of these areas all help to discover the numerous influences that, once united, all help to make a child who they are, and what they will become once fully grown.

By doing this, it is possible to see the areas that are potentially having a negative effect upon a child's upbringing, and therefore allow us to try and counteract them, thus raising a child that is healthy both physically and mentally.

Not only will this grant a more sturdy relationship between parent and child, it will also provide a change in the way that children are viewed in society, therefore eventually bringing about an enormous change in the relationships that we have with each other.
