I believe quite the opposite.I think that testing on animals should not suffer for humans as they have no say in what we inflict upon them. What rights have we to put ourselves above other creatures and inflict pain and suffering on them by trying to justify it as OK because we are humans?

Many drugs have already been tested to the hilt and I believe that humans should volunteer to undergo tests not innocent animals. The suffering and trauma for them is so dreadful that it can't be justified by the moral stance that they are less important than human beings. Pain and distress is an unacceptable thing to inflict on any living creature.

Just because testing has been accepted in the past doesn't justify it in the future.
Surely it would be more humane to put more money and effort into finding alternatives to animal research.

I totally disagree that it is a 'good' thing to first test on innocent creatures. I believe it is a terrible thing to inflict upon them.

Yes animal testing is a good thing.  For one they do know what limitations there are while experimenting on animals and can tell how that will effect the results. Two, they only get to the stage of testing on animals after they collect data through in vetro processes and computer programs that stimulate how the drug might effect the body. Three, they developed open heart surgeries, coronary bypass surgery, and heart transplantations through testing on animals. That alone has saved many human lives. There are several benefits to testing on animals.

Um...well I am doing a thing in school, and we are having a mock debate, and I am being forced to pretend to be on the animal testing is good side, even though I'm not. Just think of it like this- would you want to rely on medicine that might poison/kill you??

Animal testing is a good thing because if we didnt test on animals we would hurt the humans with the drug they used because it was not tested on anything

However, animal testing isn't good for the animal. In fact it causes great suffering, and many animals are tested for unimportant things like cosmetics. Are we okay with being a society where torture of animals so that we benefit?

Testing a new product on animals have been an accepted practice in the past. This has been done for finding response to certain new drugs or even cosmetics. When a new drug is formulated, it cannot be tested on humans at the inception. Human life cannot be jeopardized with initial tests. The product has to go through cycles of tests and improvements or changes have to be incorporated before scientists can feel comfortable about starting to test the same on humans.

This reduces the risks to a certain extent as we already know that if the effect is not too drastic or fatal on animals, humans will also perhaps be safe. Although it has been a controversial subject with animal lovers in the past but it is the only way to save human beings from being exposed to the earlier and not so mature formulations. Hence it is a good thing that animals are put to test first as it safe guards our own interests as human beings.

Testing on animals is NOT a good thing. Simple reason is because it doesn't work. The only reason animals are being tested on is because they are cheaper, and labs do not want to experiment on humans as they'd have a risk of dying or 'suing'. Many people are now donating their bodies to science when they die - to experiment on them.
If you think about it, how can a mouse or a rat be the same as a human? They are obviously going to have a different reaction to drugs and experiments, therefore resulting in a - 'non result'. Lets face it - there is still NO cure for cancer, AIDS, HIV, and many more illnesses and diseases. From my own personal research, animal experimentation is not accurate and therefore does not work. So no, animal testing is by far NOT a good thing and causes an inhumane amount of pain on innocent animals around the globe.

It is a mixed answer, on one hand you have the fact animal testing helped to make insulin which is the medicine people with diabetes take. On the other hand you have the fact that painkillers are not used and the animals have to go through excruciating pain. I personally think it is bad.

Look where were at today without these tests we wouldn't be where we are today in medicin's without the testing on animals. Also we couldn't test the humans because probably well hardly anyone would want to do it anyways, so I think it is a good thing because of how man diseases and sickness's we have cured

It isn't always a good thing. And the more technology in computer modeling and laboratory skin generation improves the less we'll need animal testing which is a very good thing ;)

It is a mixed answer because we shouldn't experiment on animals because they can die because of the drugs on cosmetics but also it would be wrong to test on humans either. It should be stopped completely!!
